Understanding people and society
Exploring human behaviour, relationships and social change
Sociology invites students to examine the world through a different lens. It explores how individuals interact with one another, how societies are organised and how culture, institutions and social forces influence everyday life.
Through the study of contemporary issues and social structures, students
develop critical thinking skills, empathy and a deeper understanding of the diverse experiences that shape communities. They learn to analyse information, challenge assumptions and engage thoughtfully with complex social questions.
At College Ste Marie, Sociology encourages students to become informed, reflective and responsible members of society who are able to appreciate different perspectives and contribute positively to the world around them.
